Universal Fest Appreciations from Tonya Mason
Great to meet you today! The food was good. Thanks for suggesting the curry chicken. I had Indian, Italian and Greek food and plan to patronize Bombay and Hannah Restaurants in the near future. My son was excited to meet the “Tribal Spirit” brothers. I’ll be buying a flute for him from them. Also, my daughter is looking forward to using the soaps that we got from My Heavenly Creations.
Your hard work is appreciated. I love the diversity of cultures that our city has to offer. It is such a wonderful gesture to bring it all together at a single event. I am certainly looking forward to next year’s Universal Fest! Keep up the good work.
Ernest Strickland (Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce): Hello Friend. Thank you for the invite. I think is is a wonderful idea and i know you are just the man to get it done.
John Gilmore (Leadership Memphis): Hey! I caught the end of your show today and it really resonated with me. One of my goals is to live my life in such a way that I have no regrets at the end. I want to live full on and your comments reminded me of that goal.
Crystal Burnett I so agree with all that you are doing with this. …… What you are doing so needs to be done.
Charles Gulotta (City & County Economic Development Office): Sandeep, Thank you for the invitation! You have been working very diligently on this project. It sounds like it will be a big success. I will help spread the word. Please keep me advised of any ongoing activities. My days fill up with activities quickly. I will place the 4th on my calendar and see what happens. Thanks!
Alisha Dumas (National Hispanic Professional Organization): Wow! I am so very proud of you! You are doing amazing things. Keep it up…
Sylvie Olivier: Thank you so much, wow! I really love your initiative and I was deeply touched by the core message of this article. As you may know, I live in Quebec and ….. My mission is to spread and infuse the Essence of Gratitude around the world and maybe we could eventually find a common ground to both spread our heartfelt messages.
With heartfelt Gratitude,
Sonya Mull: I didn’t know that you started Indiafest as well! That’s awesome!
Anastasia Wiseman: Hello wow. As Mrs. Europe I am happy to help local charities. Please let me know how I can be involved. Thanks!
Carol Austein: I really appreciate your efforts and think this is THE utmost worthwhile cause to be involved with. We are all one! Thanks….
Vinitha Nair: Great going wow…indeed luvd the concept…& here’s wishing u Good luck thru !!! I grade that 5 on 5 !!!
…. felt it to be a unique initiative…perhaps the loudest cry heard thru almost half the globe. Merging of various ethnicities I thought was a challenge…well here ‘1 universe’ calls for liberating human race as a whole and it actually worked & that’s remarkable!!! Well here in India I still can sense the racial superiority amongst the north Indians & nobody really cares…everybody is so busy chasing deadlines after deadlines that they are gifted to survive with this difference.
Hope ‘1 Universe’ cud extend its wings to this part of the globe as well & bridge the difference :-)))
…. …definitely wudn’t want to give this a miss…but true to say that am awful when it comes to trialing…probably I’d score better if u’d ask me to cook, house-keep, sing nursery rhymes or teach phonetics…these are all am professed to be good at.
Let me know how u’d want to go about it…but quite skeptical of how the mass out here would reciprocate…u’ll know better
I sent info on 1 Universe to Andrew J Douglas ~ WMC TV Anchor/Reporter and Anna Marie Hartman Birkedahl WMC Anchor/Reporter and Bernal E Smith II Managing Director and CEO at source1cap. All are great contacts that know many people…. …I will continue to ask people to join. I will target people that know many or people that have resources and /or the educational background to help your mission. Have a Blessed day Sir…..and remember DIVERSITY
AND BOND AS ONE UNIVERSE TODAY
I have a copyright on that one Sir…..But I may trade it to you for a a goat or 2 chickens and a mule….Smile it is good for your face!!!
Rita Lima: Do you visit schools to promote Diversity in the school system in Memphis? There is a need there for sure. Technically speaking, Houston is so much more diversified than Memphis. My kids know no difference of race, religion, etc…That is one main reason I left Memphis. You are a man that likes to climb mountains. This is good, and says much about your character! I like that. Is there a story behind the climb? Climbing is nice when you have hands reaching down to help you, and you know ~~ when you are climbing, you don’t mind what color the hand is that pulls you up! And sometimes, if you slip and fall you get back up, once again does it matter what color the hand is that pulls you up. No…No …No…If we put a blind fold on…we lose our security unless we are with someone we know very well…If you don’t believe me put it on and talk to people as they come by….you will lose your confidence and will become frightened, but if you take it off with just your son and yourself, you are completely comfortable…totally at peace….No diversity is like wearing a bling fold ~~the unknown is different and scary….Human nature ~~but when we educate ourselves, it is then we become comfortable…..loving unconditionally our friends and neighbors. Do you understand what I mean? The more uneducated the area the longer the blind fold says on….geographically speaking, the education system is so tarnished in Memphis. Are there any plans for changes in the educational system that you know of?
It was great to meet you last night. Your enthusiasm and positive attitude are contagious. I wish we had a “vaccine” to share your passion with other!
Thank you for the invitation to Wednesday evening’s meeting. I am about to become a grandmother for the second time, and my daughter is due September 4. That puts me on high alert, and it will affect some of my plans. That said, babies come on their own schedule, so I will do my best to attend.
Again, it was wonderful to meet you, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
NIKA JACKSON: Office of Community Affairs, Division of Public Services and Neighborhoods: Hi wow! Thanks for the invitation. ….. please know that we are on board and ready to participate.
Dr. Hattie Isen (Art’s For Life’s Sake): Hi wow! What an amazing document you have created! I heard you say something about me helping to “word” your vision and plan; however, you have created quite a work of art.
Elizabeth Lemmonds (Leadership Academy): Hi wow! So good to hear from you- I’ve been following 1 Universe on Facebook, of course, and greatly admire your efforts. Best of luck with the event! We need to get it onto MemphisConnect, as we also need to highlight our multicultural communities, opportunities and resources. I believe you spoke with Nika Jackson? I’d love to follow up!
Hattie Isen, Ph.D., Adjunct Professor, Freed-Hardeman University-Memphis: wow! …an amazing presenter with extra-ordinary vision for blending humankind. |Andy Bungay from London: It’s a delight to see what you are doing for Memphis. You’ll know its a shrine for musicians like me, but you are on a mission to give all that brilliant heritage a future and wide, wide relevance and resonance .It’s regeneration as it should always be done. In London I’m presently chairinghttp://www.facebook.com/l/jAQBdY7A1AQC7o13eYq2FNVYBTLZNXZVC0YK9B9dNf3D4-Q/www.coolfusion.org.uk for the 2012 Olympiad and in a recent radio interview (I hope this is cool with you) cited what I know of your activities in 1-Universe as a global inspiration for what is being aimed for in London.I discovered the other day that one of the athletes in Port Of Spain, Jamaicais training at the ‘Memphis Stadium’-I think that’s pretty cool and I think that people far and wide are going to be running with the energy you’re bringing together.Andy Bungay

You’ll know its a shrine for musicians like me, but you are on a mission to give all that brilliant heritage a future and wide, wide relevance and resonance .It’s regeneration as it should always be done I think. I felt this also with Kendra as she described her movie treatment to me. I’ve scored and am scoring for one of her projects inspired I hope by the 20/20 vision you guys have. I’m hoping to get over the Memphis sometime in the months ahead (I have a colleague who is setting up in Houston and has invited me over ) and would like to visit the 1-Universe project then. If you feel I might be able to assist in some way, I’d welcome that discussion but would hope to meet you anyway.

Bob Brame Wow! I so admire your passion in general and for 1 Universe specifically. I wish I could join you Sunday and offer more support. But for me, right now, the plate is overflowing. I’m in the middle of a major transition and have much to take care of at hand. That said, please keep me on the message list. Thanks and take care. Bob
Sir, if something comes to mind, I will forward any thoughts. But I truly do believe the foundation you’ve outlined covers the Universe from a Memphis perspective. All the best.
Clara Ospina-White: Wow! Thank you for the invite. The initiative sounds very interesting!! Congratulations. I will be there.
Tom Dees: This is much needed in Memphis if not the whole world. I’ve travelled most of the Far East and most of the States, and people need to get over their differences, travel, and learn another language…or two.
